Thomas J. Snee, Executive Director at Fleet Reserve Association, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Educators for dedication, achievements, and leadership in military services.
Mr. Snee, an accomplished educator and executive with the military, has been serving as the national executive director of the Fleet Reserve Association since 2013, where he oversees a staff of 15 people who are advocates for services affecting the United States Navy, Marines and Coast Guard. His staff performs outreach and scholarship programs within the community, including veterans service groups, thereby serving active duty servicemen, retirees, reservists and veterans within the sea service components of the Navy, Marines and Coast Guard. They collectively work to push forward the benefits and rights of the service members and their families.
Prior to this appointment, Mr. Snee was a longstanding social studies chair and educator in various middle schools from kindergarten through eighth grade. A passionate teacher, he was always available to talk to students outside of the classroom if they were enduring particular struggles both academically and personally. In addition, among the highlights of his career were the instances he tried to be a role model for his students, teaching them not to give up in the face of adversity.
To prepare for his illustrious career, Mr. Snee pursued a formal education at Mohegan Community College, where he received an Associate of Science in liberal arts. He went on to attend Excelsior College, earning a Bachelor of Science in liberal arts and psychology. Mr. Snee concluded his education at George Mason University, receiving a Master of Education in educational leadership.
In an effort to remain abreast of recent developments within the military, Mr. Snee maintains affiliation with the Surface Navy Association. In addition, he has participated in a number of civic engagements, such as the Boy Scouts of America, the Knights of Columbus and the National Eagle Scout Association. A retired U.S. Navy serviceman, he further is an accomplished author, having penned “What’s Up, Life?” through Mind Steer Publishers in 2016. He derived the title of the book from his former teaching days when he would ask his students, “What’s up?” and they would reply, “Life.”
In recognition of his exceptional contributions to the industry, Mr. Snee was named Top Executive of the Year by the International Association of Top Professionals. Married to the late Karen Habina, he is the proud father of four children and six grandchildren. He is in the process of writing a second book entitled “You Raise Me Up,” which will be dedicated to his late wife. The book will discuss the five pillars by which they lived: to grieve, to smile, to laugh, to respect and to lead.
