Marcella Lingham, EdD, President and Chief Executive Officer of Quality Community Health Care, Inc., has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Educators for dedication, achievements, and leadership in medical education.
With more than 50 years of professional experience, Dr. Lingham has been the president and chief executive officer of Quality Community Health Care, Inc., since 1986. Prior to obtaining her current roles, she was a learning specialist at the Rutgers University College of Nursing from 1985 to 1986, a project director with the Mantua Community Development Corporation from 1984 to 1985, and an executive director with the Primary Community Health Center of Mantua, Inc.
From 1980 to 1983, Dr. Lingham was an assistant professor with the Rutgers University Newark College of Arts and Sciences, and from 1972 to 1979 she was a curriculum developer, project director, and educational consultant for Research for Better Schools, Inc., from 1972 to 1979. Earlier in her career, she was a reading and curriculum development specialist with the RCA Service Co. from 1970 to 1972, and a teacher with the School District of Philadelphia from 1965 to 1970.
Dr. Lingham was inspired to pursue a career in education by her parents and grandparents, who encouraged her to read and instilled in her the value of perseverance. She began her career as a student at Temple University, completing coursework from 1960 to 1962. She then joined Cheyney State College, obtaining a Bachelor of Education in 1965. She subsequently received a Master of Education from Temple University in 1970, and she earned a Doctor of Education from Rutgers University in 1980.
Dr. Lingham has always had a natural talent for learning from others, and to identify people who would be a mentor to her, which allowed her to build a wide ranging skillset. Now a respected leader in the field herself, she is active with numerous professional organizations, including the American Public Health Association, AFP, and Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.
Looking toward the future, Dr. Lingham hopes to keep her firm up to date with all of the new changes in the industry, and she is writing a book and intends to pursue more research in improving parental guidance in children.
