Krishnamurthi Sundaram, clinical professor at the State University of New York Downstate Medical Center, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Educators for dedication, achievements, and leadership in otolaryngology.
With more than 40 years of professional experience, Dr. Sundaram has been a clinical professor at the State University of New York Downstate Medical Center since 2007. In this position, he specializes in educating current and future medical professionals in otolaryngology, ontology, and neuroscience. His other areas of interest include thyroid, parathyroid, sinuses, skull bases, and larynx. In addition to his teaching role, Dr. Sundaram has previously served as chief of head, neck, and skull base surgery department at Long Island College Hospital and he was the vice chair of the department of otolaryngology at UHB-LICH and SUNY Downstate Medical Center.
Dr. Sundaram began his career as a student at Madras Medical College, obtaining a Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Science in 1973. He then joined the Cancer Institute in Chennai, India for a two year fellowship. He later relocated to the United States, serving as a surgical intern at Church Hospital Corp. in affiliation with johns Hopkins University, joining the Methodist Hospital of Brooklyn for a three-year residency, becoming junior attending, fellow, and residency coordinator at the SUNY Downstate Medical Center. Dr. Sundaram has been recognized as a fellow of the American College of Surgeons.
