Jannet White, Tutor at Catapult Learning, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Educators for dedication, achievements, and leadership in K-12 education.
With more than 30 years of professional experience, Ms. White is a tutor with Catapult Learning, having been an educator with King William County Public Schools from 2008 to 2017. Prior to obtaining these roles, she was an educator with BCHS from 2005 to 2007, and a teacher with BCPS from 1998 to 2005. From 1994 to 2000, she was an educator with Price Edward Elementary.
From 1992 to 1993, Ms. White was a title 1 reading teacher with CCPS, and from 1989 to 1991 she was an educator with TAR in Berlin Germany. Earlier in her career, she was an educator with King Williams Schools for grade 4, and an educator for grade 5 with CCPS from 1985 to 1987.
As a child, Ms. White had a desire to become a television anchor, beginning her career as a student at Longwood University. However, once she completed the general studies portion of her degree, she found herself drawn to education, and changed majors, obtaining a bachelor of science in elementary education and teaching in 1984. She later completed coursework with the school, as well as with Liberty University and Old Dominion University. In 2015, Ms. White concluded her studies at Strayer University, earning a Master of Education in technology. She is certified in special education, general studies, elementary education, and developmental reading K-12.
A leading voice in her field, Ms. White has been affiliated with numerous organizations in her community. A member of the National Educational Association and the VEA Technology Institute, she is active with her church, Ronald McDonald House, and she is known for preparing meals. Ms. White credits much of her success to her father, who instilled a love of education, her older siblings, her grandparents, and her faith in god.
Throughout her career, Ms. White has been recognized for her contributions, including with academic honor by Strayer University, She received a Certificate of Recognition for a 100% Passing Rate in Grade 11 English. She has been most gratified by being able to help children achieve, and she considers a highlight of her career having helped a group of special education students pass their SOL tests, as well as the times she was able to collaborate with colleagues and when she taught fifth graders in creative writing, reading, and performing at PTA programs.
Looking toward the future, Ms. White intends to continue tutoring and writing, and to be active in her church and community. She enjoys gardening, quilting, reading, playing piano, photography, music, art, and birding in her free time.
