Hailing from a family of esteemed educators, Ms. Anderson knew from her formative years that she would become a teacher in adulthood. Inspired by her mother, who taught Ms. Anderson throughout her childhood, Ms. Anderson has been teaching children even before obtaining her college degree. Earning a Bachelor of Arts, magna cum laude, from Sul Ross State University in 1985, she went on to teach kindergarten in the Socorro Independent School District in El Paso, TX, until 1986. Moving up in her field, she subsequently taught kindergarten through the third grade in the Resource Room in the Fort Stockton Independent School District from 1986 to 1990. She spent the successive 20 years teaching kindergarten at Lydia Rippey Elementary School in Aztec, NM, until her retirement in 2010.

Alongside her primary endeavors, Ms. Anderson was the organizer of the Children’s Library in the Fort Stockton Public Library from 1980 to 1984 and also held the role of pre-school teacher at the First Baptist Church in Fort Stockton, TX, for five years. A member of Kappa Delta Pi and the Council for Exceptional Children, she has accrued numerous honors throughout her tenure. The recipient of the Golden Apple Award, she was also nominated for the Disney Award in 2000.

Married to E. Wade Anderson since 1962, Ms. Anderson is the proud mother of two children. In her spare time, she enjoys writing, reading, traveling, painting and crocheting. Notably, she has been selected for inclusion in several editions of Who’s Who in America, Who’s Who in American Education, Who’s Who in the World and Who’s Who of American Women.
