Joseph Lamar Woodard, Law Librarian and Professor Emeritus at Stetson University, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Educators for dedication, achievements, and leadership in library science, law, and higher education.

A former law librarian and professor emeritus at Stetson University, Mr. Woodard amassed nearly 40 years of professional excellence in his industry prior to his retirement in 2001. Prior to his positions at the college, he served as a partner with Schuh, Schuh and Woodard from 1969 to 1971, a law librarian at Tulane University from 1965 to 1969, and an assistant librarian at Cahill, Gordon, Reindel & Ohl from 1964 to 1965. He commenced his career as an assistant reference librarian at Columbia University from 1962 to 1964. Alongside his primary endeavors, he held the role of president of the Tampa Bay Library Consortium in 1981, 1988, and 1989, and locally served as a clerk for Presbytery Tampa Bay from 2005 to 2006.

Mr. Woodard holds a Bachelor of Arts and Doctor of Jurisprudence from the University of Florida, as well as a Master of Library Science from Columbia University. He formerly served as president and secretary-treasurer of the Pinellas Public Library Cooperative in the early 1990s. In addition, he was secretary-treasurer of the southeast chapter of the American Association of Law Librarians and member of the Florida Bar Association.

In recognition of his contributions to law, Mr. Woodard was named to the Hall of Fame at the Stetson University College of Law in 2006. In addition, he was selected for inclusion in several editions of Who’s Who in America, Who’s Who in American Law, and Who’s Who in the South and Southwest.
