Jean M. Bartunek, PhD, Management Educator at Boston College, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Educators for dedication, achievements, and leadership in management education.

The Robert A. and Evelyn J. Ferris Chair and Professor of Organizational Studies at Boston College since 2004, Dr. Bartunek has amassed 50 years of professional excellence in her field. Prior to this position, she was the director of the organizational studies department and PhD program at the college from 2003 to 2006, chair of the department of organizational studies from 1992 to 1995, and assistant, associate, and full professor of organizational studies from 1977 to 1991. In addition to these roles, she was a visiting assistant professor of organizational behavior in the department of business administration and the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, a visiting lecturer in the department of psychology at the University of Illinois at Chicago, a high school teacher and dormitory resident at Woodlands Academy, and a grade school mathematics teacher at the Academy of the Sacred Heart.

Alongside her primary appointments, Dr. Bartunek was a visiting scholar at the University of New South Wales, the University of Iowa, the University of Michigan, Northwestern University, and the University of Illinois at Chicago. She has also maintained fellowships with the Center for Evidence-Based Management, the Advanced Institute of Management Research, and the Academy of Management.

In recognition of her exceptional contributions to management education, Dr. Bartunek has accrued several accolades during her impressive career, including the Best Manuscript Award from the Massachusetts Society of Certified Public Accountants in 1980, a Distinguished Service Award from Boston College in 1999, the Best Reviewer Award from the Academy of Management Journal from 2005 to 2007 and in 2015, and the Career Distinguished Service Award from the Academy of Management in 2009. In addition to being listed in Who’s Who in the Management Sciences and Who’s Who of Business and Professional Women, Dr. Bartunek was selected for inclusion in several editions of Who’s Who in America, Who’s Who in American Education, and Who’s Who of American Women. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in psychology and sociology from Maryville University, as well as a Master of Arts and Doctor of Philosophy in social and organizational psychology from the University of Illinois at Chicago.
