Kenneth W. Sullins, Mathematics, Science and Computer Science Educator at Empire State College, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Educators for dedication, achievements, and leadership in mathematics, computer technology and higher education.

With more than 45 years of professional experience, Mr. Sullins has served as an adjunct instructor of mathematics, science and computer technology at Empire State College since 2004, having previously been an adjunct instructor at Mansfield University for 11 years. Earlier in his career, he acted as a mathematics teacher for several schools, including East Hills Junior High School, Imlay City Junior High School, Carsonville-Port Sanilac Junior-Senior High School, Chelsea High School, Ripley High School, and St. Clair Community College. Even from a young age, Mr. Sullins had been interested in mathematics and decided to professionally pursue the field because of his mentors. His father, who was also interested in the subject, cultivated a young Mr. Sullins’ interests by encouraging him to ask questions about math and further explore math and technology. Furthermore, Mr. Sullins had multiple teachers in high school and junior high school who were always present and influential to a young Mr. Sullins.

A respected presenter in the field, Mr. Sullins has been a speaker and presenter at the Pennsylvania Council of Teachers of Mathematics Conferences since 2002 and a member of MCTM’s “Leading Math into the 21st Century.” In addition, he has contributed a number of articles to professional journals in his area of expertise and has maintained membership with several organizations, including the Pennsylvania Council of Teachers of Mathematics, the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics, and the Michigan Council of Teachers of Mathematics.

In recognition of his contributions to the field of education, the Oakland University Baseball Team presented Mr. Sullins with the Distinguished Alumnus Award in 2013. A graduate of Oakland University, Mr. Sullins previously earned a Bachelor of Arts in 1970 and a Master of Arts in mathematics in 1975.
