Title: Master Teacher

Diane D. Knight, Master Teacher at Scecina Memorial High School, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Educators for dedication, achievements, and leadership in teaching.
Raised by parents who believed that education is the strongest factor in making a happier life, Ms. Knight has always had strong academic values. She decided to enter the profession herself when she realized that there were a lot of kids who weren’t getting the tools necessary to succeed after high school. She believes that everyone deserves a good education, so she set out to make that happen for as many students as she could reach.
In Ms. Knight’s first year in the field, she taught and lived in Spain. She then moved to Indiana, where she took a position as a teacher at Scecina Memorial High School in 1987. She remained in that role until accepting the distinguished title of master teacher in 2014. Over the years, her responsibilities have included teaching Spanish, leading the professional learning community, helping teachers with strategies and best practices, observing teachers and their teaching methods, raising the level of teacher expertise by sending teachers to conferences, and managing both the Title II program grant money from the federal government and a team to assist in grant writing.
Ms. Knight prepared for her endeavors by earning a Master of Science in secondary education from Indiana University in 1987 and a Bachelor of Science in Spanish from Morehead State University in 1975. She is a member of such prominent organizations as the National Catholic Education Association and the Indiana Alumni Association.
Looking to the future, Ms. Knight hopes to become more comfortable teaching with technology. She thinks that education is on the forefront of breaking out into something terrific and, despite the fact that she could retire, she really wants to be part of that change.
When Ms. Knight isn’t working, she enjoys traveling and reading.
