Bruce R. Jacob, SJD, Dean Emeritus and Professor Emeritus of the Stetson University College of Law, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Educators for dedication, achievements, and leadership in law and higher education.
A renowned figure in the fields of law and higher education, Dr. Jacob has more than 30 years of professional experience in his areas of expertise. A dean emeritus and professor emeritus of the Stetson University College of Law in St. Petersburg, FL, since 1994, he formerly served the university as vice president, dean, and professor for 13 years. Earlier in his career, he was employed by such institutions as Mercer University Law School, the College of Law at The Ohio State University, the Community Legal Assistance Office in Cambridge, MA, the Center for Criminal Justice at Harvard Law School, and Emory University School of Law. He briefly served as an associate with Holland, Bevis and Smith and as an assistant attorney general for the state of Florida for four years.
To prepare for his illustrious career, Dr. Jacob pursued an extensive education, first obtaining a Bachelor of Arts from Florida State University in 1957. He followed this accomplishment with a Doctor of Jurisprudence from Stetson University and Master of Laws from Northwestern University in 1959 and 1965, respectively. After obtaining some hands-on experience in the field, he earned a Doctor of Juridical Science from Harvard University in 1980. He later earned an additional Master of Laws in taxation from the University of Florida in 1995.
In recognition of his exceptional accomplishments, Dr. Jacob has been selected for inclusion into several editions of Who’s Who in America, Who’s Who in American Law, Who’s Who in the South and Southwest, and Who’s Who in the World. In his spare time, he enjoys visiting his cottage home in Michigan, visiting his orange groves in Florida, and practicing the violin.
