Rita Gagelman, Parish Ministry Associate at the Garfield Lutheran Church, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Educators for dedication, achievements, and leadership in history, English and social science education.
Early in her career, Ms. Gagelman started as an adjunct, and then as an instructor at Barton Community College. She remained a part of the faculty at this institution from 1988 to 1998. From 1998 to 2004, she served as an administrative assistant of the Lillenas Music Division of the Nazarene Publishing House. In 1999, she also took on the roles of adjunct instructor at Park University and Kansas City Kansas Community College. From 2004 to 2009, Ms. Gagelman also served as an education and training assistant at Burns & McDonnell.
As an educator, Ms. Gagelman has enjoyed helping her students, especially adult students who attended college in the evenings. Witnessing her students succeed has made her career worthwhile. Ms. Gagelman recalls always being interested in the accumulation of knowledge. She first received a Bachelor of Arts in history from Fort Hays State University in 1968. She returned to her own education at the institution to receive a Master of Arts in history in 1987, and then with a Master of Arts in English in 1992.
In her current endeavor, Ms. Gagelman is involved on a civic level as a Paris Ministry Associate for Garfield Lutheran Church. She has also been a Parish Ministry Associate for the Immanuel Lutheran in Kansas City. Furthermore, she has contributed to numerous articles and publications. In her spare time, she enjoys traveling and reading. Ms. Gagelman is incredibly proud of her career in education and considers the 25 years she spent teaching as a college instructor as one of the most rewarding aspects in her life.
