Nondis Lorine Chesnut, Educator, Writer, Learning Specialist, and Scriptwriter at Williamsport High School, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Educators for dedication, achievements, and leadership in reading, writing, and education.
Interested in the field of writing from a young age, Ms. Chesnut is the author of the books “Creating Heaven on Planet Earth,” published in 2012, and “A Touch of Love from Heaven,” published in 2005. She has also written one screenplay entitled “Heaven on Planet Earth” in 2000. A contributor of articles to newspapers and magazines since 1964, she has also appeared on television programs, radio programs, and advertisements, and she was a column coeditor of the Beckley Post Herald in the late 1950s.
Ms. Chesnut has taught reading and writing to young students for more than 30 years. A former teacher at Williamsport High School, she was also a reading specialist at Fountain Rock Elementary School, an adjunct instructor at the Graduate School of Hood College, and a reading resource teacher at Woodland Way Elementary School. A learning center specialist at the Academic Support Center from 2004 to 2012, she also served as an adjunct instructor in reading, writing, and English at Daytona Beach Community College in 2000, as well as a reading and writing instructor for a variety of other colleges and institutions throughout her extensive tenure.
Certified as a school administrator, secondary and elementary principal, reading specialist, drama teacher, and English and speech teacher, Ms. Chesnut has been a member of the Florida Development Education Association since 1997. In recognition of her exceptional accomplishments, she has accrued several accolades, including the Recognition of Valuable Contributions Award by the Academic Support Center at Daytona Beach Community College in 2007, the American Heritage Writing Award by the Williamsport Lions Club in 1995, and the President’s Award by the Washington County Reading Council in 1981.
A proud wife and mother, Ms. Chesnut enjoys writing, swimming, dancing, traveling, reading, and photography in her spare time. She has been included in several editions of Who’s Who in America, Who’s Who in American Education, Who’s Who in the East, Who’s Who in the South and Southwest, Who’s Who in the World, and Who’s Who of American Women. Notably, she was named a Lifetime Achiever by Marquis Who’s Who in 2017.
