Dr. Blodgett-Griffin attributes her success in the education field to overcoming her own struggles as a graduate student. Understanding how difficult navigating education can be, it has long fueled her desire to help others reach their academic goals, which is why she been in business for more than 20 years. Combining her learned knowledge with her personal experiences, she is able to advise and be a role model to shape the lives of others. Dr. Blodgett-Griffin became involved in distance education when her graduate assistantship included the first distance delivery of teacher training via satellite. There were both pros and cons to this method and has since worked in improving the educational system.
Dr. Blodgett-Griffin was set on her own academic path by first earning a Bachelor of Science in graphic communications and advertising from Minnesota State University, Moorhead. She continued her education at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, receiving a Master of Arts in adult education and a PhD in education and human sciences. Her areas of expertise include research methods in distance education, advanced qualitative methods, thesis and dissertation proposal development, adult education and life-long learning, gender issues in distance education, tutor and student support in distance education, and collaboration and mentoring in educational environments. On a daily basis, Dr. Blodgett-Griffin encounters work that includes teaching course content, mentoring students, editing and revising courses, serving on committees, supervising master’s students, providing constructive feedback and positive feedback, and monitoring student participation. Her hard work in this field has been recognized on numerous occasions and she is the recipient of 2010’s Professional Woman of the Year Award from the National Association of Professional Women. She has also received a Woman of Outstanding Leadership honor from the IWLA and an Outstanding Professionalism acknowledgement from Top Female Executive.
A leading voice in her field, she has maintained affiliation with a variety of organizations that aid in development. She is a member of the Association of Adult and Continuing Education, the American Civil Liberties Union, and the Southern Poverty Law Center. She also serves as the current president and Lead Minister and Adult Education Coordinator of the Wiccan Church. Furthermore, she is a prison ministry member for Wiccan prisoners in Nebraska. Dr. Blodgett-Griffin is an online adjunct professor and online course materials editor for the Centre for Distance Education at Athabasca University.
