For more than four decades, Dr. Recker has been a dedicated medical professional. In his career, he has both lead and director medical programs and instilled valuable knowledge and skill in generations of young medical professionals. His current positions include the role of the O’Brien Endowed Chair at Creighton University, a position he has held since 2016, the Associate Dean of Research at the institution, a role he has held since 2006, and providing his services as the Division Chief of Endocrinology at the university, a role he has been dedicated to since 1974. Dr. Recker has also been the Vice President of the National Osteoporosis Foundation.
Dr. Recker’s original plan was to become a veterinarian due to growing up on a farm and working firsthand with animals. This plan slightly changed when Dr. Recker attended Creighton University and studied under his mentor, Dr. Robert Heaney. Dr. Heaney introduced Dr. Recker to endocrinology and in that moment a new dream was born in him. He earned an MD from the institution in 1963 and became a diplomate of the American Board of Internal Medicine in 1971.
Dr. Recker was named the Endowed O’Brien Chair in 2016 and has also been recognized with an Outstanding Performance as Faculty Member from Creighton University. He was also named the Director of the Osteoporosis Research Center. Furthermore, Dr. Recker maintains affiliation with the American Association of Endocrinology and the American Medical Association. He has been included in Who’s Who in America, Who’s Who in American Education and Who’s Who in Medicine and Healthcare, Who’s Who in Science and Engineering.
