Jon M. Ruthven, Professor Emeritus at Regent University, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Educators for dedication, achievements, and leadership in Religious Studies.
Dr. Ruthven served the School of Divinity at Regent University from 1986 to 2005, and starting November of 2017 is in Nepal starting a PhD program with the seminary there. He is the author of such works as “The Prophecy That Is Shaping History,” “On the Cessation of the Charismata: The Protestant Polemic on Post-biblical Miracles,” and “What’s Wrong with Protestant Theology: Traditions vs. Biblical Emphasis.” In 2005, Dr. Ruthven was ranked first in Pentecostal and Charismatic Research by the Foundation for Pentecostal and Charismatic Research.
A member of the Society for Pentecostal Studies and the Evangelical Theological Society, Dr. Ruthven earned a PhD in religious studies from Marquette University in 1989. He experienced a series of healing events that he could not explain, and became convinced of the efficacy of faith. Since then he has delved into systemic theology, and has taught graduate and seminary students in the study of religion. He has been in the field for 22 years, and has contributed to publications like the Journal of Pentecostal Theology as well as Systematic & Practical Theology.
