Jon Mark Ruthven, Professor Emeritus at Regent University, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Educators for dedication, achievements, and leadership in Religious Studies.
Dr. Ruthven received his PhD from Marquette University, with additional study at The Hebrew University, Jerusalem. He is the author of such works as The Prophecy That Is Shaping History: New Research on Ezekiel’s Vision of the End, On the Cessation of the Charismata: The Protestant Polemic on Post-Biblical Miracles (2nd ed., 2011), and What’s Wrong with Protestant Theology: Traditions vs. Biblical Emphasis (2013). In 2005, Dr. Ruthven’s On the Cessation of the Charismata was tied at first in best books on Pentecostal studies by the Foundation for Pentecostal and Charismatic Research. Ruthven has contributed articles to a number of theological journals and encyclopedias.
After 12 years in the pastorate, he served as Dean at Pan Africa Christian University, Nairobi, Kenya (1980-82), Dean of Students at Christ for the Nations Institute in Dallas, TX (1984-85), Professor, Regent University School of Divinity (1987-2005), Founding Mentor of a Doctor of Ministry track for United Theological Seminary (2010-15), and is now engaged in developing a global online PhD program with Iris University in Africa as well as other universities.
