Donelson Edwin Dulany Jr., PhD, Professor Emeritus at the University of Illinois, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Educators for dedication, achievements, and leadership in Psychology.
Dr. Dulany received the title of professor emeritus at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 1998, after serving as a professor of psychology since 1964. He has maintained his role as an institute affiliate of the Beckman Institute at the university since 1990, and in 2010 joined the international editorial advisory board of Mens Sana Monographs, an open-access project devoted to medicine and mental health. Dr. Dulany has appeared in Who’s Who in America, Who’s Who in American Education, Who’s Who in the Midwest, and Who’s Who in the World.
An alumnus of the University of Tennessee, Dr. Dulany received an AB in 1948 and went on to the University of Michigan, where he was a Rockefeller Research Fellow in Philosophy and an instructor of psychology. He earned a PhD in 1955, and became a lecturer with the Florida State University Extension for Overseas Military Personnel in Puerto Rico. After serving for one year, he joined the University of Illinois, and has been a member of visiting faculty with Harvard University as well. Dr. Dulany has been asked to speak on numerous psychology events, notably as a presenter at Psychonomics in Chicago in 2015. He was an editor of the American Journal of Psychology from 1988 to 2008.
Dr. Dulany served with the U.S. Army from 1954 to 1956, and was the co-author of “A Method for Teaching English to Spanish Speaking Military Personnel” that year. He is a fellow of the American Psychological Association, and won the 1994 Prokasy Award for Distinguished Teaching in a College of Liberal Arts and Sciences. Dr. Dulany also holds a 1992 Hohenboken Award for Excellence in Teaching in Psychology, and has been supported by grants from the National Science Foundation, affiliated with the National Institutes of Health.
