Barbara Glennon Poindexter, Secondary School Educator, Drama Coach, French and English Teacher, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Educators for dedication, achievements, and leadership in Language Education.
Ms. Poindexter has taught French and English with the Moises E. Molina High School in the Dallas Independent School District since 1997, and previously worked with the Wilmer-Hutchins High School in the district from 1983. She chaired the foreign language department there from 1983 to 1994, and was a Spanish and French Teacher with the Christ the King Catholic School of Dallas immediately before. Ms. Poindexter has been recognized with an Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award, and has appeared in Who’s Who in America, Who’s Who in American Education, Who’s Who in the South and Southwest, and Who’s Who of American Women.
An alumna of Texas Woman’s University, Ms. Poindexter earned a BS in 1958, and after conducting postgraduate coursework with Kansas State University, earned a second diploma from the University of Northern Iowa in 1986. She is certified as a teacher in South Carolina, Kansas, New Mexico, and Texas. Ms. Poindexter decided to become a teacher after graduating college, and found positions hard to come by and not enjoyable. She eventually discovered teaching was very exciting, and has enjoyed playing a part in someone’s life and career. Ms. Poindexter is very proud of her work as a drama coach, and once nurtured a student who went on to the state competition as part of the University Interscholastic League.
