Izidore S. Lossos, MD, Medical Oncologist and Educator at the University of Miami, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Educators for dedication, achievements, and leadership in oncology education.
Dr. Lossos has been a professor of molecular and cellular pharmacology at the University of Miami since 2008, as well as the endowed chair of lymphoma at the Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center at the University of Miami hospitals and clinics. He has been director of the center’s lymphoma program since 2006, and is an attending physician of the University of Miami and Jackson Memorial Hospital. Dr. Lossos recently contributed to numerous medical publications in 2017, including Leukemia & Lymphoma, Modern Pathology, and Cancer Discovery, building on a prolific career as a reviewer and medical researcher. He was formerly a division physician of the Israel Defense Forces and head of its Military Clinic and Hospital, holding the rank of major.
Dr. Lossos was trained at the Hadassah Medical Center, and certified by the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates in 1988, followed by permanent certifications in internal medicine and hematology by the Israeli Board of Certification. He is a former instructor of the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, and a fellow of the department of hematology at Hadassah Medical Center. In 1998, he joined Stanford Medicine at Stanford University in the division of oncology as a postdoctoral fellow, and in 2001 Dr. Lossos became a research associate of the division. He joined the University of Miami in 2002.
As an advisory board member of the Lymphoma Research Foundation since 2009, Dr. Lossos has supported numerous medical societies, and is currently a member of the American Society of Clinical Oncology, the American Society for Clinical Investigation, the American Society of Hematology, and the Israel Medicine Association. He is a part of efforts like the 2016 Prostate Cancer Research Program Panel of the Lymphoma Chairman of Review Committee Grant Review Meeting with the U.S. Department of Defense, and the organizing committee of the meeting on lymphoma biology at the American Society of Hematology from 2014 to 2015. Dr. Lossos was entrusted with a seat on the extramural grant committee of the American Cancer Society in 2007.
