Ronald L. Huston, PhD, PE, Professor Emeritus at the University of Cincinnati, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Educators for dedication, achievements, and leadership in Engineering.
Dr. Huston earned the title of professor emeritus after serving with the University of Cincinnati since 1962, teaching as a full professor of mechanics since 1970 and providing leadership as director of its Institute for Applied International Research starting in 1989. He is frequently a consultant in the field, and was editor for “Dynamics of Mechanical Systems,” “Aircraft Crashworthiness” and “Formulas for Dynamic Analysis,” as well as the author of “Multibody Dynamics” and “Finite Element Methods.” Dr. Huston is also a recipient of the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award and has appeared in Who’s Who in Finance and Business, Who’s Who in America, Who’s Who in American Education, Who’s Who in Science and Engineering, Who’s Who in the Midwest, and Who’s Who in the World.
Originally from Somerset, Pennsylvania, Dr. Huston attended the University of Pennsylvania, earning a PhD in 1962 and joining the University of Cincinnati that year. He was recognized by the National Science Foundation in Washington DC as director of its division of civil and mechanical engineering from 1979 to 1980. In later years, Dr. Huston was named a Distinguished Research Professor of the University of Cincinnati in the general area of cell mechanics, particularly biomechanics and accident reconstruction.
Dr. Huston is a life fellow of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers, a fellow of the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics, as well as a member of the Society of Auto Engineers. From 1984 to 1990, he served on the board of directors of Tri State Human Factors. Having accomplished so much, Dr. Huston now has the time to enjoy his other interests in weightlifting, running, reading, and travel.
