Linda L. Schlueter, Esq., Retired Law Educator, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Educators for dedication, achievements, and leadership in the Law.

Ms. Schlueter was a professor with the School of Law at St. Mary’s University from 1990 to 1994, and taught there after a career in private practice since 1983. Her husband, David A. Schlueter, was offered a position at St. Mary’s along with her and is still with the university, but Ms. Schlueter is now enjoying her retirement after many years of contributions to academia, legal literature, and women scholars in America. She is considered a Marquis Who’s Who Industry Expert and a recipient of the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award, featured in Who’s Who in Finance and Industry, Who’s Who in America, Who’s Who in American Education, Who’s Who in American Law, Who’s Who in the South and Southwest, Who’s Who in the World, Who’s Who of American Women, and Who’s Who of Emerging Leaders in America.

Born in Los Angeles, California, Ms. Schlueter earned a BA from the University of Southern California in 1969 and a JD from Baylor University in 1971. She served as a government relations specialist in the USPS headquarters in Washington DC, before becoming a staff attorney with the Research Group Inc. in Charlottesville, VA. In the early ‘80s, Ms. Schlueter was a private practice attorney in Washington. She moved to Texas in 1983 to join St. Mary’s University as an assistant professor of law, rising to professor in 1990. Ms. Schlueter has also been a presenter of law for the Texas Women Scholars Program in Austin twice, and has held a seat on the board of directors of the Institute for Comparative and International Legal Research.

Though retired, Ms. Schlueter has contributed numerous works to legal publications, and was the author of “Punitive Damages” from 1981 to 1989, which was released in its sixth edition in 2010. She was also an editor of the Modern Legal Systems Cyclopedia from 1990 to 2005 for 20 volumes, and an editor of the Community Property Journal. Ms. Schlueter was inducted into Phi Alpha Delta, and belongs to the American Bar Association, the Bexar County Women’s Bar Association, the San Antonio Conservation Society, and the Order of Barristers.
