Mary Kelly, Librarian, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Educators for dedication, achievements, and leadership in library sciences.

Dr. Kelly has long been dedicated to education and the dissemination of information. Since 2001, she has provided her services alongside her robust skill set and experience as a librarian with the East Baton Rouge Parish School System. She has also been a librarian for the Bufrocq Elementary School System and previously for the Holy Family School. Earlier in her career, Dr. Kelly wrote and produced content for The Video Company and taught at the East Baton Rouge Parish School System. She has been a freelance writer for pre-video production, post-video production and a storyteller for the DBA-The Book Doctor in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. In addition, Dr. Kelly has presented on instructional design and technology in the field, as well as instructional materials and with Library Mavens.

In preparation of a career dedicated to education in both the classroom and library, Dr. Kelly first earned a Bachelor of Science from Louisiana State University in 1970. She continued at the institution to receive a MEd and an EdD. She is certified as an English teacher, Social Studies teacher and as city materials media center director and school librarian. Furthermore, Dr. Kelly has contributed to a number of articles, professional journals and literature magazines. She has been an active community throughout the years and has served in various roles with the St. Aloysius Catholic Church.

In addition to her work and education, Dr. Kelly has aligned herself with a variety of organizations that have aided in her professional development. Since 2005, she has been a parliamentarian with the East Baton Rouge Parish Association of Educators. She has also held a variety of positions with the Catholic Library Association, the Louisiana Association of Educators and with the Louisiana Reading Association and the National Education Association. In her spare time, Dr. Kelly enjoys reading, writing book reviews, visiting public libraries and performing storytelling skits for people as “The Book Doctor.” She has recently received a Lifetime Achievement Award.
