Woo-Kyoung Yoo, MD, PhD, Professor and Medical Doctor at Hallym University Medical Center, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Educators for dedication, achievements, and leadership in Medicine.

As chairman of the department of physical medicine and rehabilitation at Hallym, Dr. Yoo has held a leadership position in the medical community since becoming chief director with a similar department in the Presbyterian Medical Center of Jeonju, South Korea, in 1999. He was notably a visiting scholar of the Non-Invasive Brain Stimulation Center at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center and Harvard Medical School from 2010 to 2011, and was honored with a 2017 Hyangsan Academic Award from the Korean Society of Spine Surgery. Dr. Yoo has appeared in the 33rd Edition of Who’s Who in the World.

A Seoul, South Korea native, Dr. Yoo attended Yonsei University there and worked as a teaching assistant in the department of anatomy. He served a residency with Severance Hospital in the department of rehabilitation through the late ‘90s, and earned a MD from Yonsei in 1996. Dr. Yoo stayed with Severance through a research fellowship, and in 2005 he earned a PhD from Yonsei. He has continued to serve in numerous research and teaching positions since earning a PhD, and joined Hallym in 2008, becoming a full professor in 2013 and chair of his department in 2015.

Dr. Yoo has been a leader in his field, and from 2013 to 2015 he served on the editorial board of the Korean Society for NeuroRehabilitation. He has relevant interests in sports and medical informatics, and is a certified physician with the Korean Ministry of Health and Welfare. Dr. Yoo is married, and has three children.
