Lynda Merrill Mills Simmons, Consultant at the Academy for Math, Engineering and Science, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Educators for dedication, achievements, and leadership in Teaching.
Ms. Mills Simmons is currently with the Alternative Teacher Preparation Council of Utah State University, and has held her current role as a consultant since 2005. She is the author of “Setting Up Effective Secondary Resource Program” and a former school administrator, who led the Hartvigsen School in Salt Lake City from 1993 to 2002 as a principal. Ms. Mills Simmons is recognized as a 2002 Administrator of the Year by the Utah Federation Council for Exceptional Children, and 2001 Business Woman of the Year by the South Salt Lake City Chamber of Commerce. She has been very active with her civic community as a member of the Mission for Church of Latter-day Saints since 2013.
As a recipient of an Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award, Ms. Mills Simmons has appeared in Who’s Who in America, Who’s Who in American Education, Who’s Who in the West, Who’s Who in the World, and Who’s Who of American Women. Since 2017, she has also been state treasurer for the General Federation Women’s Clubs, and has been president of the Seeley Genealogical Society since 2015. Ms. Mills Simmons is an alumna of the University of Utah, earning a BS in 1961 and a MS in 1983. In addition to academic awards, she was honored as a Utah Honorary Battalion Chief of the South Salt Lake City Fire Department, and was presented with a 1993 Ambassador Award from the Salt Lake Convention and Visiting Bureau.
