Kent S. Marshall, PhD, Professor at Quinnipiac University, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Educators for dedication, achievements, and leadership in Chemistry.

After teaching in the field for 44 years, Dr. Marshall has been focused in organic chemistry for the last six, primarily fostering undergraduate research. His favorite kind is where he can watch students become chemists, and his greatest accomplishment lies in placing students in graduate school or industrial jobs. Dr. Marshall is affectionately known for his neckties, and now owns about 700 of them, never repeating one in a school year. He has appeared in the 65th, 67th, and 68th editions of Who’s Who in America.

Dr. Marshall studied with the University of Oregon, and holds a PhD in organic chemistry. He was a postdoctoral research associate of the University of California, San Francisco for two years before joining Quinnipiac University in 1973. Since 1999, Dr. Marshall has also supported the university as its chemical safety and hygiene officer. In his civic duty, he has also been an officer for Grange-Local Regional in Cheshire, Connecticut, and is a prolific contributor to scientific literature.

Dr. Marshall is a member of the American Chemical Society and Sigma Xi. In addition to his whimsical neckwear, he is also known for his fondness for ballroom dancing and off-roading in his Jeep. He is also the proud father of Marie Grace Nierenberg and Tina Marie with his wife, Lucretia Affie Marshall.
