Dr. St. Elmo Nauman Jr., Minister, Retired University Professor, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Educators for dedication, achievements, and leadership in Philosophy.

Awarded 1980 Teacher of the Year of the College of William & Mary and National Chaplain of the Association of the U.S. Navy, Dr. Nauman has enjoyed a fruitful career as a philosophy professor and an ordained minister of the First Baptist Church in St. Paul, Minnesota. He taught from 1968 to 1986 in various universities across the country, and has led congregations in California, Rhode Island, Ohio, and Massachusetts. Dr. Nauman is the author of such works as “Treasury of Philosophy” and “Fallacies and Logic- the Secret World of Evil Arguments.” He is the recipient of a 1978 Civic Award from the Iota Psi chapter of Alpha Kappa Psi, and a Marquis Who’s Who Industry Expert who has received the Marquis Who’s Who Humanitarian Award.

Born to St. Elmo Harry Nauman and Frances Irma Wolf in Phoenix, Arizona, Dr Nauman was ordained in 1957, three years after graduating from the University in Chicago in Illinois. He earned a MDiv from the Baptist Divinity School, now the American Baptist Seminary of the West, Berkeley, and another degree from the Andover-Newton Theological School in Massachusetts. He earned a PhD from Boston University in 1969, and started teaching at the prestigious Rutgers, the State University of New Jersey, in 1968. In 1973, Dr. Nauman joined the U.S. Naval Reserve, where he served to the rank of commander. He returned in 1991 to command the Third Marine Air Wing at the El Toro Marine Corps Air Station in California, and in 1992 as commander of the Naval Air Station in Lemore, California.

Dr. Nauman has taught with the College of William & Mary, the George Washington University, and Baylor University. From 1992 to 2001, he served as an asylum officer of the U.S. Immigration and Naturalization Service, and from 2001 to 2004 as an expert witness in immigration court for Immigration Specialists in Arcadia, California. In his free time, Dr. Nauman enjoys music and art. He is the proud father of Constance Ann Busch and April Diana, and has been married to Meijijati Supoto since 2011. Dr. Nauman appeared in the 70th edition of Who’s Who in America for 2016.
