Grant Delbert Venerable, II, a former distinguished professor at California Polytechnic State University, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Educators for dedication, achievements, and leadership in chemistry.

Born to a civil engineer mathematician and an accomplished organist, Dr. Venerable has carried on both his parents’ professions as an artist, musician, and teacher of chemistry. He was inspired to enter the profession as a freshman chemistry student at the University of California, Los Angeles, and quickly discovered his ability to get grants during his first years teaching at California Polytechnic State University. Dr. Venerable is a Marquis Who’s Who Industry Expert and the recipient of an Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award. He has appeared in Who’s Who in America, Who’s Who in Science and Engineering, and Who’s Who in the World.

Born in Los Angeles, Dr. Venerable studied at UCLA to receive a BS in chemistry, followed by an MS in chemistry in 1967, and a PhD in physical chemistry from the University of Chicago in 1970. He returned to UCLA in the Laboratory of Nuclear Medicine for postdoctoral studies, and taught with the Duarte Unified School District for one year. He has since lectured throughout California, not only in chemistry but also in ethnic and in African-American studies. Dr. Venerable served as provost and senior vice president for academic and student affairs at Lincoln University (PA) from 2002 to 2011. He is the author of such books as “Managing in a Five Dimension Economy,” and has honored his mother Thelma L. Venerable as a celebrated organist. Dr. Venerable is also celebrated for his paintings, inspired by the beauty of molecular structure, chemical reactions, and scientific principles.

Dr. Venerable is the recipient of an Outstanding Achievement Award from the California Alliance for Arts Education, a National Education Leadership Award from the JGT Foundation, a “Step To” College Distinguished Teaching Award from San Francisco University, a Molecular Art Appreciation Award from the Alpha Chi Sigma Chemistry Fraternity, and a Distinguished Teaching Award from California Polytechnic State University at San Luis Obispo. He is a member of the American Association for the Advancement of Science, the American Chemical Society, and Alpha Chi Sigma. In addition to artistic endeavors, Dr. Venerable enjoys swimming.
