Heidi Amelia-Anne Weber, Associate Professor of Military History at SUNY Orange, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Educators for dedication, achievements, and leadership in military history.
Dr. Weber has enjoyed teaching for more than two decades and endeavors to make her classroom a place where students are inspired while being educated. As an expert in American military history, Dr. Weber leads her classes with a hands-on approach, such as conducting a water balloon fight and having each side recall the events to compare the two sides of history. Before joining the faculty at SUNY Orange, Dr. Weber taught at Essex County College, Seton Hall University, East Stroudsburg University, Trinity University, Kean University and various other institutions.
Intrigued with history and the components surrounding it, Dr. Weber earned a BA in political science at Upsala College in 1994. She continued to receive an MA in history at East Stroudsburg University before earning a PhD in 19th century American history from Kean State University. Throughout her career she has written, contributed and reviewed to numerous books, articles and professional journals. She has received several awards for her work, including the SUNY Chancellor’s Award for Teaching Excellence in 2017 and the President’s Award for Teaching Excellence at SUNY Orange in 2017.
