Hammam Adib Hasan, PhD, Associate Professor, Faculty Senate President at Spalding University, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Educators for dedication, achievements, and leadership in teaching and special education.
Dr. Hasan knows the best way to educate children is adding fun to learning, which prompted the launch of HA Learning Strategies. His organization combines science and mathematics with the fun of learning by means of encouraging students to build hydroplanes. The result of this labor of love has been the revolutionary Project Hydroplane Racing Program. Dr. Hasan launched the program in 1985 after realizing students wanted a hands-on way of learning. The program is now in schools nationwide, empowering and encouraging learning.
Passionate about education, Dr. Hasan is an associate professor of special education and a gang intervention specialist at Spalding University. He was turned on to this path by first earning a Bachelor of Arts in political science from Washington State University in 1971. Following this, he received an MEd from the University of Washington in 1983. He also earned a PhD at the institution. Dr. Hasan holds teaching certifications from the EPSB in Kentucky, Hawaii and Washington state. He was also a faculty advisor for Council for Exceptional Children and a reader for the EPSB. Prior to teaching at Spalding University, Dr. Hasan was a special education teacher at Seattle Public Schools. His career lead him to lecturing at Western Washington University and then working as an assistant professor at Eastern Michigan University. In addition, he has taught at Waipahu High School and served as the dean at the Hawaii College of Pharmacy on Kapolei. He started working at Spalding University in 2005 and is also the president of the faculty senate.
In 2017, Dr. Hasan was distinguished with a Humanitarian Award, a Lifetime Achievement Award, and featured in the Millennium Magazine and Marquis calendar series. He maintains affiliation with the ASCD, Phi Delta Kappa, the Council for Exceptional Children and Phi Sigma Kappa.
