Åke W. Edfeldt, PhD, EdD, Professor Emeritus at Stockholm University, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Educators for dedication, achievements, and leadership in higher learning.
Dr. Edfeldt has dedicated his career to the betterment of children, whether as a professor of education at his alma mater, Stockholm University, or as an expert on Swedish state committees on communications as well as violence towards children. He founded the Swedish Movement Education for Highly Gifted Children in 2002, and has served as an advisor for national family violence laws for the countries of Sweden, Germany, and New Zealand. Since 1991, Dr. Edfeldt has enjoyed the title of professor emeritus from Stockholm University, as well as the company of his own children, Eric Johan Werner, Fredrik, Cattie, Ylva, and Mikaela.i
As an alumnus of Stockholm University, Dr. Edfeldt earned an MA in 1953, followed by a Ph.D. in 1954 and an EdD in 1960. He taught as a professor from 1960 to 1991, and offered tutelage at the Turku Academy of Finland and as an inspector for the RMI School of Advertising and Marketing. In addition to publishing in the education field, Dr. Edfeldt contributed as a member of the Swedish State Board of Film Censors for nine years, and was a board member of the Center for Distance bridging Media at Lulea Technology University. He enjoys hunting, vintage car motoring, and collecting jazz records. In fact, he is the recipient of a 2000 Bass Player Mark of Distinction from the Swedish Jazz Federation, and chaired the Swedish National Group for Jazz History from 1998 to 2006.
