Daniel Andreae, Executive Director of the Alzheimer Society of Toronto, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Educators for dedication, achievements, and leadership in medical education and management.

Highly regarded in his line of work, Dr. Andreae is a professor at the University of Guelph-Humber and the first executive director of the Alzheimer Society of Toronto. Citing his passion and dedication for the success in his career, he possesses a robust skillset that aids in his endeavors. According to Dr. Andreae, “Education is not just an intellectual exercise, it is most effective when the head meets the heart and knowledge can be applied to enhance the quality of one’s life on all levels; emotional, physical, spiritual and social.” He is guided by these principles in his line of work.

Attributing his success to his own education as well, Dr. Andreae has studied and acquired various degrees throughout his career. He first started out at the Center for Mind Body Medicine in Washington DC, receiving Food for Medicine Training. Following this, he brought his studies to England, where he received diplomas in stress management, nutrition and Autism awareness via Stonebridge Colleges. At York University, he received a Bachelor of Arts in psychology with honors, and continued at Wilfrid Laurier University to receive a Master of Social Work with clinical specialization. He continued at the University of Toronto and earned a doctorate in adult education. In addition, Dr. Andreae was distinguished with an honorary doctorate of law from Assumption University.

Dr. Andreae has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who and various organizations due to the accomplishments of his work. He has features in the 2017 Marquis magazine and calendar. He has also received the Humanitarian Award and Lifetime Achievement Award through the organization. Dr. Andreae is also an adjunct associate professor at Renison University and has been involved with the Department of Continuing Education at Harvard Medical School. He is the former president of the Ontario Association of Social Workers and the chair of the patrons council of the Alzheimer Society of Toronto.  He is noted for leading a 10-year campaign to secure statutory legislation recognizing social work as a profession.

Recent accolades of Dr. Andreae’s work and patronage include an Honorary Degree from the Humber Institute of Advanced Technology for his contributions to scholarships and educational excellence, such as to the students at the Humber Institute of Advanced Learning. He has sponsored an innovative training program for surgeons and allied health professionals in robotic surgery at the University Health Network in Toronto for the Michener Institute, as well as sponsored annual lectures at the Laurentian University and George Brown College. Furthermore, Dr. Andreae has been recognized as a lead donor for the Da Vinci Robot at The Princess Margaret Hospital and for his contributions to the educational center at St. Joseph’s Hospital. With the core of his work being in support of advancing the health care field, he has also been a donor, champion and chair of the advisory committee for the National Eating Disorder Center at Toronto Hospital. Dr. Andreae is a patron of Brain Injury of Canada. In support of Dr. Timo Crings, he is a donor of the Stroke and Rehabilitation Center at Toronto Western Hospital.
